Heiress Kat Hubbard is considered the red-hot chili pepper in a family of instant potato control freaks. Always out of step. Always out of favor. On her wedding day, she learns her business barracuda brother used her as a bargaining chip to buy percentages of her fiancé’s company with each baby she pops out! Furious to learn she’s been sold for a profit, Kat shoves a basketball under her gown and waltzes down the aisle to humiliate her family, then makes her getaway via her private yacht. It doesn’t occur to her she can’t drive.
When Kat rams her runaway yacht through Dean's restaurant and destroys P.K.’s last hope for survival, Dean is forced to use Kat in a last-ditched effort to save his hometown, at the risk of losing both his sanity and his heart.
Kimberley Dehn has created a hilarious rollicking ride with her debut novel Southern Exposure. Chicken wars, local town gossip, and a wild storm lures the reader to be caught up in the lives of Kat, Dean and Stevie. I laughed my head off at the descriptions of the town, Potter’s Kiln, and all its idiosyncrasies and eccentric townsfolk. This is a great story that captivated me and warmed my heart. I highly recommend Southern Exposure and look forward to many more novels from Ms. Dehn.

Dean Mickler is mayor of Potter’s Kiln, Georgia, a small town community of unemployed couch potatoes who let him carry the burden of keeping them out of financial hot water. He aspires to escape to Atlanta where a dream job awaits. Yet with the closing of the town’s only employer, he cannot leave P.K. teetering on the brink of economic disaster. To bring in revenue, he renovates his gristmill into a riverside restaurant, and is days away from escaping the chokehold his well-meaning townspeople have on him. Destiny has other plans.
KAT HUBBARD
She extended her hand through the bars. “I should have thanked you for rescuing me after my litter crack-up but, what with me busy resisting arrest and all, it kinda slipped my mind. Can we start over? My name’s Katharine-Kat to my friends-Hubbard. Watch the nails.”
DEAN MICKLER
"This is Georgia. We're called rednecks in these here parts.” His voice took on an exaggerated twang. "'Course, redneck is now considered politically incorrect. I'm what's considered a low class, rural, gene-pool challenged American."
STEVIE MICKLER
Dean placed his hand over his daughters. “I’m taking the job in Atlanta.”
Stevie’s blue eyes grew huge. “You are?”
“I start my new job next Wednesday.”
Stevie’s lower lip quivered. “I’ll miss you, Pa. Good luck in A’lanta.”
JUNIOR UPCHURCH
He had to be the largest hog Kat had ever seen. Not that she had ever spent any quality time with Long Island swine, yet up close and personal, the brute outweighed the deputy by a ton.

Kat rearranged the tulle to drape properly around his large head, and had to admit the veil looked better on the hog than it ever had on her.
